Sic Transit Marius the Giraffe

Strong content advisory for the above video.  This strikes me as an old Monty Python skit come horribly to life:

A healthy young giraffe slaughtered despite an international campaign to save him was butchered in front of a crowd of children

Marius was shot with a bolt gun after a final meal of rye bread, then his carcass was cut up and fed to lions at Copenhagen Zoo.

Youngsters watched as zoo staff in green gloves dissected the animal, which was killed despite offers of a new home for the two-year-old.

The Danish zoo claimed Marius had to be killed to avoid in-breeding.

But a furious British animal lover tweeted to Copenhagen Zoo: “Shame on you, and for giving children front-row seats at the autopsy.”

Another called for a boycott of the zoo, adding: “Not only did they put down a healthy animal, they turn it into a spectacle? Confused.”

Go here to the Mirror to read the rest.  No one will ever confuse me with an animal rights activist, but if in-breeding was a concern, why couldn’t Marius have been neutered or given to a zoo where he could have led a solitary life?  Exposing kids to this giraffe being killed and then slaughtered for lion chow strikes me as cruel and wrong headed.

Update:  Neutering Marius was rejected because “that would have diminished” his quality of life.  As opposed to being shot in the head by a bolt action rifle and having his carcass cut up for lion chow?

Actually, given the general Western Europe/Scandinavia views on euthanasia, this sounds entirely believable.

Per Michael, Exposing kids to this giraffe being killed and then slaughtered for lion chow strikes me as cruel and wrong headed is a teaching moment: Your Betters will decide who is lion chow and who reproduces.
.
On the other hand, giraffes do end up as lion chow in the real world. And in the real world, somebody else slaughters the animals we eat for meat.

As wrong as it was to kill the giraffe like that, I wonder why the parents of these children or the adults they were with allowed them to witness the killing?

Mrs. C.
“….allowed them to witness the killing.”

I wonder if they have been desensitized due to the culture of death that dominates the land, knowing no borders. Who knows?

What’s amazing to me is the disgust the public has (at pro-life organizations) that show the aftermath of an aborted fetus.
They get angry at the group holding up the posters.

Those posters have saved lives.
Sorry for breaking away from topic.

The head of the Copenhagen Zoo was interviewed on NPR’s “All Things Considered” last night (2/10/14) (dont ask me why I was listening to NPR), and along with his Danish-accented comments, spoke in English (verbatim) of “How this animal was taking the position of another, better animal with a better gene pool”, and “The other options at other European zoos had the same gene pool problem and there wasnt enough money”, and “his genetics were not part of the Plan”; It made me think, “Are they talking about animals in a zoo? Or isnt this the same way the great European and American progressive minds talk about us?” To them, we are all taking up space of a better genetic combination (perhaps a more docile, less argumentative and more submissive composition) and costing the gov. money:
Get out the bolt gun.

(Oh: one upside: we get a nice last meal of rye bread…)

I have extensive experience with the animal rights extremists. Most folks don’t understand some of the following about animal rights extremist thinking: 1. They think it is cannibalism for people to eat animals. It is not cannibalism for an animal to eat another animal.
2. An animal is better off dead than controlled by man in any way–including living as a spayed/neutered animal or in any kind of man controlled environment–even a zoo/cage, etc. animals in any kind of man controlled environment are in a cage–they are slaves in the same since that the African Americans were slaves before the US Civil war.

A general aside: the death by automatic bolt device through the brain is currently the most sure fire way (when done correctly) to see that a large animal does not feel pain when euthanized–commonly accepted as humane at this point in time.

Last week in Sioux City Iowa, which used to be famous for making a good part of its living at the stock yards, a boar fell off a truck on the way, presumably, to market. A boar.
The head of the local animal control office said the boar would be held at the shelter until someone who could keep the animal as a pet would claim it, that her office would work to make sure this boar would not become food, and that since the boar had made a break for his freedom, they would honor that.
The boar did not make a break for freedom. He fell out of the truck.

Anzlyne,

We don’t have the time to go into all of the ridiculous, illegal, immoral, ungodly, unconstitutional, fraudulent, corrupt, organized criminal activities of the animal rights extremist movement in this country. Just let me state plainly that I have fought these people at every level & the people who have helped me & I have the scars to show it–a sitting state senator threatened (him, his home, his family, his dairy,) stalking/trespassing charges, property damaged at multiple locations, false animal cruelty complaints/charges, theft of property, violation of federal terrorism laws, etc. The powers that be are terrified of them. They act at will. They have so much money that they own politicians & Law enforcement. The Humane Society of the United States (a 501 C4) that is taking $130 million a year off of the American public through lies & deceit–only gives 1 % (usually less) if those donations back to local shelters–the rest goes into their huge salaries, retirement accounts, lobbying gov’t to pass laws against animal ownership/use by humans. the HSUS has no connection to local shelters & has no shelters at all–despite their commercials/ads on TV/electronic media sources that show sad looking puppies/kittens. HSUS has set a goal to end all animal agriculture & all animal ownership by the year 2050–if people starve because they don’t have sufficient protein in their diet–well that is just fine. Even that beloved golden retriever/lab mix that us a guide for the blind is a slave to humans. The animal rights extremists include domestic terrorists & are infiltrated by Socialists, Communists, & Anarchists–who are working to bring down the American economy through increased regulation/taxation/expense of doing business. They are very successful–for example–they have closed down 50% if the dog breeding businesses in the state if MO in the last couple of years through increased regulation. And I could go on. The animal rights extremists movement is a full fledged front for the atheistic left in this nation. The basis for that movement is the belief that a dog = a pig = a mouse = a boy. It is a complete denial that God created man in His own image & that God set man apart from the animals by doing so–as well as a denial that God gave animals to man for man’s use, care taking, & dominion. They will give lip service to the idea that the smallest mouse is the equivalent of a Hunan being–& then commit terrorist acts that can harm/main/kill humans in the name if liberating animals. And they have out reaches to the American Catholic Church–one initiative works specifically to make a profit/advance their radical agenda through selling Catholics vegetarian meals for Lent & other fasting days. Well–u get the idea.

First I want to apologize for all of the autocorrect errors in my last post which wrote if when it should have been “of” in my last post. I am tying on my cell.

Lastly, if u are more interested in the general corruption/ongoing activities of these criminals/nuts–the American Kenbel Club (AKC) maintains a website that tracks legislation, the National Animal Interest Alliance (NAIA) website has good relative info, & humanewatch.org as well as animalagalliance.org are good sources of relative info.

Barbara Gordon’s trenchant and disturbing comments remind me that of course Adolf Hitler and SS commander Henrich Himmler as well were profoundly committed animal rights-types and for the most part vegetarians. According to James O’Donnell (The Bunker: The History of the Reich Chancellery Group, 1978, Hougton-Mifflin), one of the few times Hitler showed any great emotional sense of loss and wept was at the time of the death of his beloved German shepherd. Meanwhile, at that very moment, tens of thousands of German soldiers, civilians and children were above him at ground level being slaughtered each day by the invading Red Army. There must be a way to explain this kind of behavior. Right?

Steve.

The disorder is a blindness in my humble opinion.

Possibly caused by a choice to honor man and not God. Once God is cast aside then a compass that is alien to moral Christian’s allows for this disorder to manifest itself. Gross blindness allows for the inhumane treatment of “humankind.”

Just so you will know I am absolutely serious about what must seem like extreme statements above to some– it took me a long time to believe this stuff was actually happening myself–after about the 5th person telling me the exact same thing and a lot of research–I figured it out. See below:

“The arbitrary viewpoints that reduced human beings to slaves and property have been overturned, but there has not yet been widespread recognition that the theories justifying the exploitation of animals are just as arbitrary and wrong and that the same logic that freed human slaves ought to emancipate nonhuman slaves.”

YES. They really are trying to get a court to declare moneys to be equal to humans legally & have the same rights!

I believe it is the result of the reprobate mind mentioned in Romans 1.

“The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of people, who suppress the truth by their wickedness, since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse. For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like a mortal human being and birds and animals and reptiles. Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. They exchanged the truth about God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator—who is forever praised. Amen.” Romans 1: 18-25.

Barbara Godon: “YES. They really are trying to get a court to declare moneys to be equal to humans legally & have the same rights!”
.
Cass Sunstein, Obama’s czar of propaganda, has written 30 books about giving animals human civil rights. It is why Sunstein was selected to serve. Once animals are given civil rights to sue in a court of law, Obama has taken control of our livestock and food chain. It will give government the power to enter onto private property to oversee your cat or dog or sheep or cow. Once government creates a law to overrule your authority on your own property, the pursuit of Happiness is the ownership of private property, there is no where government can be prevented…totalitarianism.

The group that I mentioned above, the Humane Society of the United States, and their sycophants have already used their funding and resources to pass laws/rules & regs/get court judgments all across the country in almost every state and are making ever larger gains at the national level that have completely destroyed the concept of private property–this group and others like them take thousands and even hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of peoples’ private property in the form of animals/equipment, etc. away from them regularly. If you are interested, let me know, and I will give you some info on 3 ongoing cases here in my state.

Pray for me, Mary. We are still fighting these people and the evil they are advancing.
