George Zimmerman, yes, that George Zimmerman, Helps Rescue Occupants of Burning Car

George Zimmerman as perceived by the media

Hattip to Kerry Picket at Breitbart.  Truth may not always be stranger than fiction, but I am rarely surprised when it is.

On Wednesday, July 17 at about 5:45 PM  Sanford Police responded to a single car accident in the area of I- 4 and State Road 46 in Sanford. A blue Ford Explorer SUV  traveled off the road and rolled over. There were four occupants inside the vehicle, two parents and two children.  An eyewitness to the accident told Breitbart News the SUV lost control in front of the witness’s car. The SUV later caught fire.

The deputy reported, when he arrived on the scene that one of the two men  helping the family was George Zimmerman. According to Sanford Police Zimmerman had a fire extinguisher with him. The eyewitness told Breitbart News he helped assist the family out of the vehicle and put out the fire with the extinguisher.

“Zimmerman was not a witness to the crash, which was why he was not referenced in the police report,” a Sanford Police spokeswoman told Breitbart News.  ”He left after making contact with the deputy. There were no reports of injuries of any of the vehicle’s occupants,” she said.

An eyewitness to the accident told Breitbart News that people on the scene recognized Zimmerman and thanked him for his help before he left.

Zimmerman’s location has been unknown since he was found “not guilty” of second degree murder and manslaughter of Trayvon Martin recently.

Any suggestions as to how the mainstream media will cover this in order to make Zimmerman appear as a villain instead of a hero?

I sure hate to say this, but the media’s response will depend on the race of the people that Zimmerman helped.
If the SUV’s occupants were white Hispanic, then ‘sure Zim’s willing to help his own fellow tribe members, no biggee.’
If the SUV’s occupants were black, then … crickets………

Mainstream media? No clue. One minor disconcerting aspect of this is the disdain Zimmerman has received (albeit unevenly) from starboard opinion outlets (National Review, The American Spectator, Commentary). So, I am predicting that one of the juveniles Mr. Lowry employes will condemn GZ for unfairly profiling the family in question as in need of assistance, someone at Commentary will say he was reckless to get out of his vehicle to help, and Daniel J. Flynn will say he’s a ‘wuss’ for not putting the fire out with his bare hands. Rush Limbaugh will read Flynn’s commentary on the air.

“..and Daniel J. Flynn will say he’s a ‘wuss’ for not putting the fire out with his bare hands. Rush Limbaugh will read Flynn’s commentary on the air.”

That article struck as absurd too.

Funny how a Google search at 7:36 EST on Monday, July 22, shows multiple headlines about a “burning car,” but then the body of the various news articles only identifies the SUV as “an overturned vehicle”. It seems to me that the fix is in to minimize what a wonderful role George Zimmerman played in rescuing this couple and their two young children. Commentators are already coming up with made-up details like “the airbags didn’t even inflate, so big deal.” And so why didn’t this story hit the media on Friday, since it was released by the Sanford Police Dept., not Zimmerman’s attorneys? Well, they didn’t want to spoil the race riots that didn’t happen anyway. I hope someone in the Republican Party realizes that this guy is a shoe-in for any elected office they can run him in. Yeah, I know both political parties are completely clueless. It’s time this summer to shame every GOP Congressman who dares show his or her face at home, anywhere.

… There were four occupants inside the vehicle, two parents and two children ..

Were they perhaps the mother and father of the children ? Please. let’s get out of thisd PC stuff. Please.

    Well done George.

  • Spambot3049 says:

Well, we’ve already got Zimmerman truthers proclaiming that this was all staged.

Paul, A good point you are making.

People who are caught making blatantly false statements about someone only discredit themselves in the end, and everything they say after that pretty much is ignored. In other words, making false statements about someone else only serves to discredit the person making the statement, not the intended target of the statement. Let’s map this process out.

A person with credibility makes a statement about someone,
—> the statement is a blatant smear,
—> —> the person making the statement loses credibility.

In the present instance, some critics of Zimmerman are predisposed to believe only bad things about him, so rather than acknowledge he did something good, they fabricate a “truth” about him. This “truth” has no factual basis; it is mere speculation. In doing so, these “truthers” lose credibility.

    Very interesting (and timely)!

    People rescued from automotive catastrophe:

    GZ 4
    Ted Kennedy 0

The MSM calls to mind an old Chinese proverb. “A liar is not believed even when he tells the truth.” ‘Cuz the “truth” is that which advances the agenda.

    I know.

One Act of Contrition; three Paters, Aves, and Glorias.

  • Pat says:

I hope George Zimmerman’s heart is less broken now. He’s been through a kind of biblical refinement by fire in this crazy world and was a picture of heroic patience throughout. It seems to me that the Lord gave him this chance to ‘take the stand’ for those who were rushed to judgment by evil in politics and media.

Honest scorecard, T Shaw! (without getting into the list of others as to killed infants through politics, media, and votes)

It’s true that God works in mysterious ways. I want say that his demeanor was like that shown by Job in that Book.

  • Rick says:

Now Zimmerman has done two good deeds.
He’s cleaned up the neigneighborhood and helped the burning crash victims. God works in strange ways.
