The American Catholic (TAC) has been running a periodic poll of the GOP presidential field. So naturally following the Iowa Straw Poll we have this months poll for our TAC readers. We have included candidates that have declared their candidacy as well as other speculative* candidates. As the primaries arrive the field of candidates should narrow down a bit.
Tim Pawlenty has dropped out, but Rick Perry has “officially” entered the race. A newcomer to our poll is Representative Thad McCotter of Michigan. Tim Pawlenty garnered 13 votes in our last TAC poll, we’ll see where Pawlenty’s supporters will go to next. Rick Santorum won the last TAC poll.
You can view the results of our last poll here.
Update:Â My apologies, I have added Michele Bachmann.
* For example even though Chris Christie has denied he is interested in running, he still will be in Iowa for an inexplicable reason. Until then, he will be showing in the poll until we don’t see his name on the actual roll.
where is Michelle Bachmann
Anybody but Obama.
I have a hard time voting for Santorum after he supported Arlen Specter. That’s probably wrong and stupid on my part since none of the other candidates are perfect. But Mr. Santorum just grates on me.
David Stockman
I can’t believe that people are taking Herman Cain seriously. Not here, I mean (no votes as of my post), but in the Iowa poll he got ~10% of the votes.
Santorum supporting Specter is difficult to take, but not one of the candidates are perfect.
Jasper, Bachmann is out celebrating Elvis’ birthday. S
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x3BE2jMQS8Q&feature=share great pro-life speech by Ron Paul this past weekend. Santorum is a big gubbmint guy & has no problem bombing others into the stoneage (that isn’t a really Catholic idea is it?)
Why does every political event have to sound like a football rally with hoots and hollers every 30 seconds? I can’t imagine Lincoln-Douglas debates being interrupted by these silly cheers and applause.
You may find it hard to imagine Joe, but that is precisely what happened. We have stenographic transcripts of the speech. They note cheers, jeers, applause, catcalls, heckling from the sidelines, and the usual raucous hullabaloo that has always marked Illinois politics! And a good time was had by all!
Not sure … I’m sorta split between Bachmann and Perry, but the former has that “oil down to $2” gaffe and Perry has the “middle-school STD vaccine” issue. Santorum is a possibility, but there’s the whole “waterboarding” thing. (However, in the general election, I probably would vote for him over Obama as a matter of “proportional reasons.”
However, I do fully endorse Ron Paul for President of Russia!
The final sentance of that last comment is meant to be taken tongue-in-cheek. (Too bad we can’t edit our combox comments.)
