Healthcare Plan Likely to Include Free Contraception

That most private insurance companies cover contraception does not invalidate this point, for the expressed purpose of the Democratic health-care legislation is to provide health care insurance to those who do not already have it, meaning contraception will become more widely accessible than it is right now. Furthermore, support for contraception will receive the sanction of the law which has the moral weight of the majority behind it, and the law will teach people what they deserve and what they ought to do. For these reasons, it is still right to speak of a substantial effect of the health care law on the availability and practice of artificial contraception.

With respect to Nancy Pelosi: I’m stunned at the silence of the Church’s leaders; I think she deserves to be publicly excommunicated for scandal. She was reminded privately of the imperative of obeying the Church and has manifestly ignored that instruction, continuing to do great harm to the culture of life. It is far-past the time for her Bishop to act and prevent the further loss of Catholic truth in the American Public Square.
