Groundbreaking. We just learned that a)Mitt Romney is raising a lot of money, b) other people are raising large amounts of money, and c) that many donors are taking a wait and see attitude. Thank God we have journalistic titans like Politico keeping up with these trends. I’m looking forward to their next piece exploring that the people who get the most votes are the likeliest to win their respective elections.

If economics are still a big factor in 2012 Mitt Romney will be our President. I hope I am wrong, but think of the possibilities with a Romney Presidency.

Palin will be his VP. Cheney will be his Chief of Staff. Newt will be the Senior Advisor and Deputy Chief of Staff. Giuliani will be his Secretary of Homeland Security. Bolton will be the Secretary of State. Rumsfeld will be the Secretary of Defense. Some guys from Goldman Sachs will be the Secretary of Treasury and the Chairman of The Federal Reserve. It’s going to be great!

I don’t know if this is meant in jest, but none of these things will likely occur save perhaps the Giuliani prediction, but even that is unlikely.

Yes my comment above was dripping in sarcasm.

Apologies. My sarcasm detector, which is usually pretty high because I’m usually soaking in it myself, has been off a bit lately.

  • Pinky says:

The article indicated that early money separates the strongest candidates from the rest of the pack, but cited McCain and Giuliani as last cycle’s early front-runners. That kind of undermines the argument. Also, it discounted Palin’s success with smaller donors, and I don’t see why.

From what I’ve seen, Politico isn’t all left-lib all the time, but they will print the Democratic spin as if it’s breaking news, and fact.
