Senator Ben Nelson of Nebraska said ‘no-go’ on the most recent health care bill that Harry Reid and the Democrats have compiled. This most likely will derail President Obama’s efforts to have a Senate health care bill done by Christmas.
“As it is, without modifications, the language concerning abortion is not sufficient,”
With the public option hollowed out, abortion remained the biggest sticking point for the bill to get through the Senate. This is surprising due to the fact that if Democrats and liberals who want this passed for the benefit of all Americans have shown their true colors that abortion, ie, killing babies, is what they ultimately stand for.
Mounting opposition is continuing to grow beyond Republicans and conservatives. Liberals such as Governor Howard Dean and left-wing extremists such as Keith Olbermann have been raising their voices that the health care bill does not satisfy what they think health care reform should be.
Governor Dean says it will bankrupt our nation.
“[A]s it stands, this bill would do more harm than good to the future of America,”
Mr. Olbermann had even more vicseral words to add.
“unsupportable … a hollow shell of a bill” … “This is not health, this is not care, this is certainly not reform.”
President Obama and his proxies have addressed these concerns, but with their departure for the mythological Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen, it seems the bill will stall even more.
It doesn’t get any better.
Self-identified pro-lifer and Catholic, Senator Bob Casey, Jr. of Pennsylvania, got a chastised by Daniel Cardinal DiNardo, the head of the USCCB office of pro-life activities, for playing language limbo concerning abortion and how it’s worded in the current manifestation of the health care bill.
In my opinion, when your own base wants you to scuttle the current bill, you are looking at an even scarier reelection scenario come 2010.
And to put Senator Nelson’s decision in perspective, he was threatened with closure of an air force base that employs 10,000 Nebraskans in Omaha by President Obama if he didn’t tow the line. Though Senator Nelson has come out and denied this, but surely to save President Obama’s image in my opinion.
