Cathy,

No, Catholic Charities will be allowed to continue.

The issue is that Catholic Charities will have to offer benefits to their "same-sex" employee's partners.

This is against the teachings of Jesus and so Catholic Charities will instead of comprising their principles, close up shop.

Unless of course the DC City Council allows them to not compromise their principles, which they are balking at.

I hope that helped.

In reference to another article, will the DC city council have the authority to disallow Catholic Charities from providing its services? I may have misunderstood but thought I read that the Catholic Charities would not be allowed to offer services if it did not recognize gay couples who sought its services. Does anyone have clarification on this?

A curious element barely noted in so many of these "liberal" posts is the condescension which the bloggers attempt to show to people who disagree with them.

I mean, who are they? What is their social background? What education have they had? What foreign languages do they speak?

It is obvious from Miss Kilkenny's article that she has not been well educated. She spits more than she speaks.

It is not unlike the diatribe of Miss Pelosi. If you disagree with her you are a bumpkin or a Nazi.

"Kilkenny has no idea what the American people think, want, desire, or hope for – only a rigid and obscene dogma that she and her colleagues embrace with as much fervor as any 17th century Puritan iconoclast or 21st century Ayatollah. They persecute and harass all those who dare to disagree with it with just as much fervor as well, while portarying themselves as the tireless victims of oppression. They know no scruples in their dealings with facts and opinions, seeing in lies nothing but another weapon in their own holy crusade to force the rest of America to think as they think, feel as they feel, and worship as they worship their false gods and political idols."

That is a great summation.

That worst part of all this is that we know what will happen if what they're trying to do in DC prevails. It's already happened in England and Canada. The people really willing to sacrifice the poor are the governments, and they do it in a heartbeat.

– "the Church is not threatening to withdraw services as such); it is only in cases where there is a contracted or licensed service that the District would adjudge the Church to be ineligible to provide those services on a contractual basis. If DC does not grant the exemptions that would be in keeping with the Catholic’s tenets, the assumption is that the Church would no longer be eligible to be licensed or contracted to provide those services."

This is like a school bully removing his ball from a a game because HE wants to make the rules, and then vilifying the others for not playing. It's hypocrisy at it's finest.
